Month of September: Community Read-In

Melrose Alliance Against Violence and Melrose Public Library invite you to participate in a Community Read-In! Stop by the Library to pick up a copy and join us in reading and discussing Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies. A discussion group will be held at the Library on October 1st at 7pm.

Health and Longevity from the Mountain: An Introduction to Wudang Style Tai Chi Chuan

Thursday August 13, 2015 – 7:30pm – Meeting Room

Shuang Long Dao LogoCome join in on an interactive presentation by martial arts practitioners Paul and Rosalie DiCrescenzo.  This is a program for young adults and adults ages 16 and older which introduces the participants to the flowing, adaptable, powerful, yet gentle art of Wudang style Tai Chi Chuan.  The program includes a short PowerPoint slide presentation of captivating images of the Wudang Mountain region, it’s temples, and it’s world famous martial artists, along with description and discussion about Tai Chi and Wudang Mountain.

Following the presentation, participants will be invited to learn some basic, simple Tai Chi and Qigong moves. While designed for mobile participants, the program is also suitable to include physically challenged attendees who wish to just watch.

Registration is required on the library website or with library staff.

Basket and Blanket Concert

August 11th Basket and Blanket Concert Update!

Tonight’s Basket and Blanket concert featuring Matt Heaton and The Outside Toys will be held indoors at the First Congregational Church at 121 West Foster Street due to the forecast of severe thunderstorms. The concert starts at 6 p.m. Please be aware that food is not allowed in the church.
